Other notes:
This tea is a rare remnant of a long tradition of smoked tea in Taiwan. Taiwanese smoked teas are distinct cousins of their Fujian Lapsang Souchong counterparts. Traditionally referred to as Tarry Souchong, they have earned themselves a devout following throughout the years. This is due in part from the use of local evergreen wood to naturally smoke it, as well as distinct variations in the crafting of the tea. In the cup, they are reputed to be more assertive, yet well balanced in flavor with distinct anise and liquorice notes that charm the palate.
